One Minute Pro-Gun Solution
How to make direct contact with the mainstream media and support a positive, pro-gun message.
As the 2024 Olympics started in Paris, Dan Wolken at USA Today published an article about the Shooting events. This included a history of Shooting at the Olympics starting with the first modern Olympiad in 1896 and a video interview with Mary Tucker, a two-time Olympian and member of USA Shooting.
The article had a link to his contact info, so I sent him the following email:
To: Wolken, Daniel - dwolken@usatoday.com
Subject: Thank you for the article on Shooting at the OlympicsThank you for your overview article on Shooting in the Olympics (How the sport of shooting works at the Olympics: What to know) and the interview with Mary Tucker.
Many people are unaware of these sports, and it's nice to see good coverage in a major media outlet.
- John
As you can tell, this took less than a minute to write. Mr. Wolken replied in about an hour:
Thank you John. I appreciate you!
Go Forth and Do Likewise
USA Today has a daily readership of about 2.6 million, making it the fourth-largest circulation newspaper in the United States. It has been shown to maintain a generally center-left audience in regards to political persuasion but was still willing to run a positive piece about marksmanship.
Show Dan Wolken some support: Take 60 seconds and email him a thank you.
This newsletter and website/online group I manage adds up to tens of thousands of subscribers. Imagine if several thousand people took a minute to show their support for a pro-gun story and Mr. Wolken then tells his editor and boss about how big the positive reply to his article about Olympic Shooting was. The worst thing that could happen is a writer at a major media outlet willing to publish a pro-gun article receives a little appreciation from some friendly readers.
Take a minute and do the right thing.
